|With increased use of recycled fibers and shorter and more brittle fibers such as hard wood , bamboo and bagasse , paper manufacturers and printers are facing increasingly severe linting problems. These problems are observed in the drying section of the paper machine and in paper converting equipments, particularly in offset printing presses. Linting can be a nightmare for printers since the increase in the frequency of the stops for cleaning of blankets is an expensive downtime.. Linting also affects the transfer of ink to paper and negatively affects print quality by creating small un-inked areas on the sheet. Lint control chemicals are normally composed of synthetic waxes with a slight cationic charge. Because of the slight cationic charge they can be easily retained in the sheet and act as a fibre lubrication and debonding agent to prevent short fibres to break off during sheet drying and printing.
