The process of Deinking involves the removal of ink from secondary fiber slurry. Foam is created by the deinking chemical which removes ink particles by floatation. The deinking chemicals are based on fatty acid soaps and surfactants and also blends. These chemicals act as a collectors which help to float-out the removed ink particles from the pulp slurry and prevent their redeposit. Deinking efficiency is measured by brightness increase from waste paper to the finished paper as well as the Effective Residual Ink Concentration ( ERIC ) in the paper.
