|Latex emulsions are dispersions of minute polymer particles in water . Due to the enormous number of minute particles a latex has a gigantic surface area. During the drying process, the latex forms a polymeric surface film. In the manufacturing process, by altering the formula of the raw material and selectively controlling the process parameters, it is possible to adjust the properties of the film itself. In paper coating, latex is used to anchor the pigments to the raw paper surface thus giving quality paper the desired finish and excellent printing quality. In the production of floor coverings, latex is used to bond pigments to textile fibres and these fibers to each other.
